The Third International Conference on Mathematics Education
“Beliefs and Values in Mathematics Education”
November 28-29, 2025 – Hanoi, Vietnam
Venue: Hanoi National University of Education (website: https://hnue.edu.vn)
Background
The Third International Conference on Mathematics Education (ICME), co-organized by Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) and Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), is dedicated to exploring the fundamental role of beliefs and values in shaping mathematics education. This conference provides a platform for researchers, educators, teacher educators, curriculum developers, and policymakers to share research, practices, and perspectives on how beliefs and values influence all aspects of mathematics teaching and learning.
Call for Submissions
We invite submissions of original research papers, theoretical papers, practitioner reports, and proposals for workshops and posters that address the conference theme. Submissions are encouraged from a variety of perspectives and methodologies.
Conference Topics
Submissions are welcome on, but not limited to, the following topics, organized into three key groups:
Topic 1: Core Beliefs and Values in Mathematics Education
This group explores the foundational beliefs and values that underpin mathematics education, examining their impact on various aspects of the field.
- Beliefs and Values in Mathematics Classroom Practice/Teaching and Learning: Investigating how beliefs and values shape classroom interactions, pedagogical approaches, and student learning experiences.
- Beliefs and Values in Mathematics Curriculum: Examining the values and beliefs embedded within mathematics curricula and their influence on instructional design and learning outcomes.
- Beliefs and Values in Mathematics Evaluation and Assessments: Exploring how beliefs and values influence the design, implementation, and interpretation of mathematics assessments, and their impact on student learning and motivation.
- Beliefs and Values in Mathematics Teacher Education: Analyzing how teacher education programs address and shape the beliefs and values of pre-service and in-service mathematics teachers.
- Beliefs and Values in Early Mathematics Education: Examining the development of mathematical beliefs and values in young children and the impact of early learning experiences.
- Beliefs and Values in Developing Mathematical Thinking Skills: Investigating the role of beliefs and values in fostering mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Topic 2: Technologies and Modern Approaches
This group focuses on the intersection of beliefs and values with technology and modern educational approaches in mathematics education.
- Beliefs and Values in Technology-Enhanced Mathematics Education: Investigating how beliefs and values influence the integration and use of technology in mathematics teaching and learning.
- Mathematics Teaching, Learning, and Assessment in the Digital Age: Exploring innovative uses of technology to enhance mathematics instruction, student engagement, and assessment practices in a digital world.
- Learning Ecosystem in Mathematics Education: Examining the broader context of learning, including the interplay of formal and informal environments, technology, and community resources.
- Data Analytics and AI in Mathematics Teaching and Learning: Investigating the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence to personalize learning, provide feedback, and improve mathematics instruction.
